As GB3DA is now dead, EssexHam held their Monday Night Net on GB3ER. Not as many people called in, and we were chatting about maybe holding a simplex Net in the future. So we decided to do a propagation test at the end of the net.
I was elected as being quite central in the county to try and get signal reports from people. We did the test twice once on 2M(145.400Mhz) and then again on 70CM (433.475Mhz)
Below are the reports I scribbled down, thanks to everyone who called in. As this was a very interesting test, I may do this once a month on a set date, and over time we can build up a picture of how propagation on VHF/UHF is doing…

This was an interesting test and I would like to thank everyone who called in. For details my set up is as follows:
- Location : JO01FR
- ASL: 31M to base of antenna
- Antenna: Diamond V2000 6M/2M/70CM feed via 8Meter of UltraFlex 7
- Radio: Yaesu FT857D
- Power: 2M- 50w, 70cm-20w
As this was a good result, I propose to offer this testing again next month. Maybe the first Mondy Night Net of the Month, at the end we will do a quick round robin of signal reports simplex. So feel free to call in with your CallSign, Location, Power and my signal report. I will return a signal report.
What is nice is to know the bands are working and there are people on them.
